Finance Problem

A popular Investment Magazine recently published the following: “You know that the best time to buy health insurance is before you get sick. So why not insure your portfolio against rising prices while inflation expectations are low?”

a) Do you think TIPS are a smart investment at this time? Discuss, i.e., Why? For Whom? What are the aspects of the investment that you are using for your assessment of the value of these assets?

b) What are your inflation expectations?  How does this compare to the “break-even rate” that the market often uses to decide the value of a TIP vs. a plain vanilla Treasury of similar maturity?  Looking at the decision from this perspective, does this change your decision in any way?  Why or why not?

Public Administration Literature Review

Literature review is a very important tool that helps you to organize the research that has been done on a subject or problem that you may be experiencing. While you may not do a formal written review for every problem you address, the formal written review is a good tool for future reference to remind you of what you have learned about solving a particular problem in your professional capacity.

Your literature review will be 5 – 8 pages in length. This means that it should be no less than 5 pages and no more than 8 pages. You should use a Cover page and References page which are not counted in your page length requirement. Endnotes, footnotes, and headers do not count for page length and may cause you to fall short if not accounted for.

Your written assignment should be typed and double spaced with 12-point font and one-inch margins top, bottom, and side using the Chicago16 (Author Date) Manual of Style.  All sources must be properly, thoroughly, and consistently cited.  Careful attention to grammar, spelling, and the mechanics of presentation is expected.  Wikipedia is not a reliable source of information.  Any citation of Wikipedia, Dictionary.com, E-Encyclopedia, Spark Notes or anything similar in a term paper, discussion forum, or other assignment in this course will result in an automatic score of 0 (zero) on the assignment.

POL- 1-2 Discussion: Division Of Power

Considering the American experience and dissatisfaction with an all-powerful national government during colonialism and the lack of cohesion and national power under the Articles of Confederation, discuss how the U.S. Constitution creates a balance between state and national governments as well as a division of powers among the various branches of government.

In responding to your classmates, discuss if the division of power between the states and national government is now out of balance. If so, what steps can we take to restore the balance? Where do we draw the line between the national government providing a uniform set of conditions for all citizens and being intrusive?
