Professional Path – Action Plan

Professional Path – Action Plan

Use these two links below to create an action plan 3 to 4 pages. Your action plan is where you create a road map for achieving your professional goals.

Follow these guidelines in layout for your action plan and use the headings below for each section:

Goals: Describe your goals within the structural divisions of higher education.

Institution: Describe the type of higher education institution (public, for-profit, et cetera) in which you aspire to be working. This type of institution should be an environment where you feel there is a fit for you and how you want to develop professionally.

Action Plan: Create an action plan that addresses current gaps in knowledge, experience, skills, and disposition. The action plan needs to be based on the core competencies of the position you identified in the paper, Core Competencies.

Self-Reflection: Integrate a self-reflective narrative on how this action plan responds to trends in higher education and relates to the selected specialization within higher education leadership.

Family Life

Family life education is relevant across the lifespan, is inclusive of all types of families, and is designed to meet the needs of the target audience (Arcus, Schvaneveldt, & Moss, 1993).

In regard to diverse audiences, program content must be culturally appropriate in order to be effective. Family life educators must determine the appropriate scope of their program and establish the relevance, or applicability, to their audience (NCFR, 2010b).

Given, the stated fact presented and in reflecting on your reading coupled with outside research, what are some best practices (actions) in creating and presenting a strengths based and culturally aware program for the diverse families served in programs today? Share and discuss at least 3.

Globalization: Our Ever- Shrinking World

Here is the challenging broad topic you will explore: “Globalization: Our Ever- Shrinking World”

Narrow and refine this topic into a research question. Here, you need to focus on particular areas of the world or aspects such as the impact of technology on communications, cultural erosion, multiculturalism and diversity pressures, refugees, global industries/markets, loss of biodiversity, food instability, overpopulation, or migrant workers. Global means more than just the U.S. Please come up with your own ideas here!

Now, within this area, you need to focus on something more specific: social media, indigenous peoples, legal vs. illegal migration, permanent refugees in the Middle East, etc. Remember, it has to be GLOBAL IN PERSPECTIVE! Again, come up with your own particular focus!

The final product you submit will present your findings about the topic both visually (through carefully designed slides) and verbally (through the words you would say if you were giving a speech).

Your submission should include each item listed here:

A research question around the topic described above

A 250+ word description of the issue that your research question will address and why it is a major concern for the people of the world

At least 3 references in APA style
